Health Information Threadworms are parasites that live inside the gut (large intestine) of humans. People can get infected by several different worms, but threadworms (pinworms) are the most common. Children often get threadworms, and they can easily pass them on to adults.

Another common but different, fungal infection of the skin is tinea (ringworm). Symptoms of thrush on the skin are a red itchy rash, with skin that is cracked with small sores or blisters.
